Operation Flashpoint: Red River Preview

Few weeks before the beginning of warfare, it is time to evaluate the
forces. The new episode of the saga Operation Flashpoint continues to
be talked about. This realistic military shooter now unveils its game
and its multiplayer cooperative modes upto 4 players. As per the
developers Operation Flashpoint: Red River intends to be more
accessible than its forerunner. This is the 3rd installment of the
series, after Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis for PC in 2001
(and 2005 for Xbox), and Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising of 2009,
Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. A new title in the franchise that
comes just two years after its predecessor, which may suggest to many
that not enough new features and innovations, and the truth is that
more or less if it is true, since as Particular emphasis is, rather
than to revolutionize the series, something that did not need, has
been to shine, improve and tweak all the latter ended up working quite
well in Dragon Rising.

Operation Flashpoint: Red River offers 4 modes in which four players
can work together as a small squad (online only because no
split-screen is available). Thus, in the first mode, Rescue, you must
smuggle a few individuals in an aggressive environment. Specifically,
finding and protecting and recuing hostages from your enemies, local
insurgents or members of the China army. The second mode, called Sweep
offers the chance to clean the enemy from different areas of a
village. If these two game modes were not available, respectively
entitled Last Stand and Thunder. In Last Stand, your group must defend
an area over four phases, each consisting of four waves of adversaries
increasingly tough. As for the Thunder game mode, it is to escort a
convoy from point A to point B, while defending against ambushes.

The U.S. mission in Tajikistan is started as a rising force is
threatening the stability of the area. In the first missions we will
meet the "Tayi" later we will have the odd problem with Chinese
soldiers themselves. To put this in context and know how we got into
this situation, an intro with lots of humor and dynamism recounts the
events since the fall of the Soviet Union, how the United States armed
and trained the Afghan rebels during the Cold War to fight against the
USSR, which later would become Al Qaeda leader Bin Laden on the
front-up to the Gulf War and the 11-S. As for equipment, you have a
primary weapon, a secondary weapon, two types of attachments (attached
to the soldier, such as binoculars, and weapon) and two kinds of
skills specific depending on the chosen class. The latter are called
Special and B-Mod. The first improves your exploits on the field (for
example, the ability "Vision and follow-up" increases your field of
vision), while the latter can improve your results on the battlefield
(eg, Grenadier class act enjoys a 10% gain experience points as well).
Needless to say that unlike most FPS, here you must take the time to
carefully choose Class, weapons and accessories before going to war...

There are four classes of characters (note that the members of your
squad can take the same and it is possible to change every time you
die). The Footman, who has an assault rifle, is the most versatile
because it remains balanced. The gunner is the equivalent of a
commando soldier and offers a big firepower even if it is more
cumbersome and slower moving. The Grenadier, meanwhile, features a
powerful shotgun and is proving to be an expert in close combat.
Finally, the Ranger is neither more nor less than a well-equipped
sniper. Each class provides a common core of six competencies: Race,
Endurance, Flexibility, rifle handling, fire training and tactical
responsiveness. When you earn experience points at the end of a game,
the level automatically increases your character (there are more than
20 levels of evolution). In addition, you can spend points to increase
not only the skills but also four criteria inherent in each class.
These are: Accuracy, Damage, Rate of fire and maneuverability. They
also vary depending on the weapons and accessories you select.

In the missions, in addition to invade and take different positions,
we also have to defend more different attacks, with the most
interesting moments and the odd unexpected. In the first, having
cleared the village of "Tayi", we return to our home base, but on the
way a mine on the road gets in our convoy, and are ambushed, losing
all the calm and strategic possibilities other situations, having to
react with great mental agility and nerves of steel. In the second
mission we have to defend a town of several attacks, and the third,
very interesting indeed, we have to escort the convoy to a
hydroelectric plant, clearing the road surrounding snipers and RPGs
(rocket launchers) and stop a convoy "Taji" coming to stop. In the
fourth mission we went to a "nest", a refuge in the mountains full of
insurgents that we shake to kill them and leave the area clean, being
very tense is confined in such hostile territory. And in the fifth and
final for us now, we have a great little brush with Chinese forces,
and a miscalculation of the situation degenerates into a desperate and
the limit but very fun flight.
