HTC Sensation XL Mobile Phone

Having a first look on the phone will definitely reveal many details of the phone and the first thing you will notice is the large touchscreen that is much better than the Samsung galaxy SII as well. It is heavily build and hence you will have to ask yourself a question am I though enough to get this phone?

So its time to have a good look at its designs

Design

With a 4.7 inch screen it definitely looks big, looks much bigger then the 4.3 inches Smartphone’s that have released recently. No matter how much large is the touchscreen but it sits comfortably in our hands. Screen is built with Super-LCD panel to power the pixels, disappointed that they haven’t switched to the AMOLED screens.

If we look at the overall body of the phone then it appears to be quite smarty in the front having a bone-white color. While looking at the back makes it look tougher covered by aluminum plate. The overall personality of the phone does looks very much attractive.

HTC Sensation XL does not have any dedicated camera button or extra inputs, like HDMI, on the handset. Also you don’t get the option to expand the memory of the phone. You should be happy with the 16GB internal memory that you have in the phone.

Specification and features

Like all the HTC Smartphone’s that are released this year even Sensation XL does gets the Android OS, v2.3 (Gingerbread) operating system, it has a more powerful 1.5 GHz Scorpion processor with Adreno 205 GPU and Qualcomm MSM8255 chipset. Which will ensure that your phone is always high on the performance. It has a Standard battery, Li-Ion 1600 mAh. That will give you a standby time of 460 hours and on continuous usage it can last up to 6 hours 50 mins.

Beats Audio is also one more feature that adds one more feather in the cap. It changes the way we listen to music. The phone comes with the over-the-ear Beats Audio Solo headphones that gives a awesome sound experience. Make sure that you are using this headphones only when you are playing the music in Beats Audio software. If you are playing music via some other sources then it will be least effective. So just wanted to warn you about the same.

Performance

The quality of the firmware is always important in a phone and HTC always ensures that its phone gets the best firmware. Much like HTC Sensation XL got with the two different firmware builds one of them is the newer version of Android Gingerbread and the other is the updated version of HTC Sense software. So that’s why even with 1.5 GHz Scorpion processor it is able to give a remarkably good performance in the benchmark tests it also raced the dual core processor phone HTC Sensation XE in the test results.

HTC has included dual mics in the handset that will ensure you will get good voice clarity during the calls and also active noise reduction. Updated version of Sense UI is also a plus point, all the tabs are shortened and we get to see a new user interface in the phone that’s a good change don’t by the HTC.

It has a 8 megapixel camera and has the ability of taking some good pictures with the auto focus feature. The camera has the capacity of taking some sharp images which are very much soothing to the eyes. The only disappointment is the video recording. Camera shooting at 720p@30fps does looks good in specification but in the reality it was not good at all.

Price

The price of the phone is said to be around US $632 i.e. around Rs. 32,000.

Conclusion

HTC has again proved that it is going to be strong contender in the Smartphone market and will emerge as a leader for sure. Because it is coming with much smarter and enhanced devices year after year. The highlight of HTC Sensation XL is the 4.7 inch large screen and also the Beats Audio technology. I am very much impressed with the phone but missing HDMI port and also the expandable memory does reduces some points of this phone. So overall my rating would be 4 out of 5.
